14K gold on sterling silver 1/4 inch wide Hummingbird ring by Benita Wadhams. She is a Kwagiulth artist from Alert Bay, near Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
The ring is ready to be sized by any local jeweller. It is open at the back which permits the jeweller to reduce or increase its current size. This is done by removing or adding blank sterling silver at the back of the ring, and closing the ring to the desired ring size – thereby providing a custom fit for the wearer. The recommended range of sizes for custom fitting this particular ring is size 4.5 to 9.5.
The current size of the ring is 7. Until such time as the ring is sized and closed, it can also be worn as an adjustable ring for sizes 7 or greater, by stretching out the opening at the back as needed.
